Overview

Glenorchy is the Gateway to the Aspiring National Park, and the starting point for the Routeburn Great Walk. Nestled under towering Peaks such as Mt Earnslaw and the Earnslaw Glacier, the area is surrounded by National Parks.

It is also home to many, many scenes from the iconic Lord of the Rings Movie Trilogy. We will point out several of the filming locations as well as stop at a few for some great photo opportunities. This impressively scenic area was also used as backdrops for The Chronicles of Narnia and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Enjoy a great day out exploring Glenorchy, home to several excellent tramping tracks. Short guided walks are available, as well as time to explore the Mighty Dart River, also a remarkable sight. Those keen to swim are welcome to jump right in!

Take a photo with the famous 'Paradise' sign and explore the area, named for both its beauty and the abundance of Paradise Shelducks.
