description

This course is designed to give you a primer in basic skills to navigate the New Zealand wilderness safely.  This course is designed for those who are looking for a simple introduction to survival skills, including basic navigation, emergency equipment, avoiding accidents, and first aid.

The course focuses on a hands-on approach to learning, and is for those who are new to spending time in the outdoors, or those who are planning to spend time on marked tracks and in established areas.  The goal is to teach skills and concepts that help you avoid accidents in the first place by understanding risks and limitations of yourself and your gear, and to help equip you to manage an emergency situation if one does occur.  While this is not a comprehensive survival skills course for all emergency situations, it serves as an introduction for those who are looking to venture into the wilderness safely.

For more comprehensive survival skills, check out our two-day Introduction to Bushcraft course, or our 5 day Pre-Hospital Emergency Care course.
